Course Type:
Hundreds of years ago, there was just one type of golf course—the naturally formed Links Course, which is still the most special course even today.

Course Length:
The early course with 18 holes was only 5000 yardages. Later with the development of players and equipment, 6000-yardage course showed to meet people’s need for competition and entertainment. Nowadays, most courses are among 7000 to 8000 yardages, and with technology’s development, future courses would be longer.
 
Course Maintenance
A modern course with robust irrigation system, efficient mowers and computerized management would amaze people immediately as technology has devoted that much to golf. However, 100 years ago, it’s hard to image how much labor it needs to maintain a course. The managers then were more like diligent farmers—worked hard and prayed for good weather.

However, it can’t be denied that technology could also make modern course impressive even without long history.
